That cause is both authors' rights and authors' responsibilities, and it's entirely tied in with the way, in the digital age, the value of an author's work has changed – or is perceived to have changed. Alongside her writing, she is fighting a cause. It's this side of Harris that has really started coming to the fore in recent years. The 51-year-old author of the best-selling Chocolat, and some 20 other books, has a girlish air and a sing-song voice, but there is something in her eyes that suggests she is not one to suffer fools gladly. ![]() Here she is, sitting in her preferred writing spot, surrounded by incense, trinkets and pink fluffy cushions, with a cup of tea and packet of ginger biscuits to hand. Many a revolution has had small beginnings, but Joanne Harris's shed in the garden of her home, just outside Huddersfield, is smaller than most. ![]()
